One thing I've been using my dolls for is trying out costume patterns. I used to just wing everything, but with my cosplays getting more complicated and my budget tighter I can't really afford to mess up anymore.
Currently trying to get my ass in gear to make one of my favourite FFXIV outfits, the Acolyte's Robe. It's a complicated piece of sh- thing, so it's great that I can try it out in miniature.
This is the result of the very first pattern draft for the bottom part of the robe. The sleeves and hood will be a separate bolero-like piece. One real issue with this thing is that there's a lot of folding reduces in the torso, and it's open in the front while still being quite form fitting ingame. I expect a lot of on-dressform fiddling here.
Overall things that need fixing:
- cut sides to slightly to give a little bit of waist
- skirt must be waaaaay bigger to support the pleats
